No.20 Squadron

Disbanding as a Hunter FGA.9 unit at Singapore in 1969, No.20 was to become the second German based Harrier squadron. After training at Wittering in autumn 1970, the squadron officially formed at Wildenrath in December 1970.The unit subsequently flew GR.1A and GR.3 aircraft, but disbanded in February 1977 when the German Harrier squadrons moved to Gutersloh - this base having insufficient office accomodation for three squadrons. The squadron was later resurrected as 20(R) Squadron, the Harrier training unit in the UK .
